How To Make Beeswax Polish

Welcome to the world of beekeeping! One of the many things you can do with the wax from your bee hives is to make a natural and effective polish for wood and leather. Here's a simple recipe to get you started:

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup of grated beeswax
  • 1 cup of turpentine or mineral spirits
  • 1 cup of boiled linseed oil
  • Essential oils (optional, for fragrance)

Instructions:

  1. In a double boiler, melt the beeswax over low heat.
  2. Once the beeswax is melted, add the turpentine or mineral spirits and the boiled linseed oil.
  3. If you want to add fragrance to your polish, you can add a few drops of your favorite essential oil at this point.
  4. Stir the mixture until it is well combined and the beeswax is fully dissolved.
  5. Remove the mixture from heat and let it cool and thicken slightly.
  6. Once cooled, transfer the mixture to a container with a tight-fitting lid.
  7. To use, apply a small amount of the polish to a soft cloth and rub it onto the surface of the wood or leather. Buff it to a shine with a separate cloth.

This beeswax polish is a great way to protect and preserve the natural beauty of your wooden furniture, leather goods, and even your floors. Plus, it's a great way to make use of the wax that your bees produce. Enjoy!
